Champion Stake for Pointers and Setters 2016

06 July 2016

The 2016 Champion Stake for Pointers and Setters, sponsored by RED MILLS, will be held at Byrecleugh Estate by kind permission of the Duke of Roxburghe on 10-11 August, 2016.

The Champion Stake is one of the most prestigious gundog events in the UK. The Champion Stake Roll of Honour, as recorded in the Kennel Club Stud Book, dates all the way back to 1869.

Since 1939, the Champion Stake has been promoted on behalf of the Kennel Club by the Scottish Field Trials Association and the International Gundog League, Pointer and Setter Society, in alternate years. This year the Scottish Field Trials Association will be organising the premier event.

So far, 37 entries have been received. Late qualifiers will be able to enter from the forthcoming Pointer and Setter field trial circuit on grouse moors in England and Scotland.

This year, for the first time ever, the Champion Stake will have three judges officiating at the event. They are Michael Houston, Meryl Asbury and Shaun McCormack.
